Zbigniew Ziobro: Rafał Trzaskowski’s insolence knows no bounds! He travels around Poland, but he still gets a salary for managing the capital…..

Posted on February 2, 2025

Zbigniew Ziobro, Minister of Justice in Poland, has once again raised his voice in criticism of Rafał Trzaskowski, the mayor of Warsaw. Ziobro has expressed his strong disapproval of what he perceives as Trzaskowski’s “insolence” in the way he manages both his position in the capital and his activities beyond it.

Ziobro’s remarks focus on the fact that Trzaskowski, despite being the elected mayor of Warsaw, has been frequently seen traveling around the country, attending various events and meetings unrelated to his responsibilities in the capital. The Minister argues that such behavior is inappropriate and undermines the mayor’s duties, as he is still drawing a salary for his work in managing Warsaw. According to Ziobro, Trzaskowski’s actions demonstrate a lack of commitment to his primary role, leaving Warsaw’s affairs unattended while he focuses on his political ambitions outside the city.

In his criticism, Ziobro emphasized that Warsaw is a large and complex city with numerous pressing issues that require the full attention of its mayor. The capital faces challenges related to infrastructure, public transportation, housing, and education, among others. Ziobro suggested that Trzaskowski’s time spent on national tours could be better used addressing these local concerns. Moreover, he pointed out that taxpayers are funding the mayor’s salary, yet they are not seeing the expected results in terms of governance.

Ziobro’s comments come at a time when the political rivalry between the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party and the opposition, which Trzaskowski is a part of, is intensifying. The accusations reflect broader tensions in Polish politics, where local and national leaders are often at odds over issues of governance, accountability, and public trust.

Trzaskowski, in response, has defended his actions, stating that his engagements across Poland are part of his broader efforts to engage with citizens and promote his vision for the future of Poland. He emphasized that his work as mayor has not been neglected, and that his travels are a necessary part of his political strategy.

The exchange between Ziobro and Trzaskowski is another example of the ongoing friction within Polish politics, where the role of local leaders and their involvement in national politics is a subject of heate

d debate.
