SOUTHWEST PLANE NEARLY COLLIDES WITH PRIVATE JET AT CHICAGO MIDWAY AIRPORT.

On February 25, 2025, a Southwest Airlines flight narrowly avoided a collision with a private jet at Chicago Midway International Airport. Flight 2504, arriving from Omaha, Nebraska, was on final approach when a Flexjet Bombardier Challenger 350 unexpectedly entered the runway without authorization. Reacting swiftly, the Southwest pilots executed a go-around maneuver, ascending just 250 feet above the private jet to avert disaster .

 

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that the private jet misinterpreted air traffic control instructions, leading to the runway incursion. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the incident, which has intensified concerns about runway safety amid a rise in similar near-miss events .
