On Friday evening, Colorado suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Stanford.
Following the game, Deion Sanders, the head coach of the Buffaloes, issued a challenge to his team.
In front of their home crowd at Folsom Field in Boulder, Colorado, Colorado led 29-0 at the half. But the Cardinals forced overtime with a 36-7 second-half outburst against the Buffaloes. Stanford won in double overtime with an incredible 46-43 victory.
The game’s second overtime began with an intercepted pass at the end zone from Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
Joshua Karty’s walk-off 31-yard field goal sealed the victory for Stanford and brought the team back to life.
After the game, Coach Prime had a serious message for his team. Sanders questioned the level of enthusiasm his players have for football.
Sanders further urged his team to love the game with the same unwavering devotion that the 56-year-old coach does.
“It’s important for them to decide whether they’re in love with this game or just a passing fancy because love demands unwavering devotion,” the Colorado coach stated.
“You put your whole self into it.
But that’s just the button you press [on social media] when you like it.
Sanders said, “I love this, so it’s hard for me.”.
It’s amazing. I really am that much in love with this thing, and all I want is for other people to feel the same way.

“I want people to feel the same way about me because I’m genuinely infatuated with this game.
They need to decide for themselves if they are in love with it or just like it.”.

The players weren’t solely to blame for the Buffaloes’ loss.
During the double overtime loss, Sanders himself made a poor choice.
From a 3-0 start to the season, Colorado has now dropped three of their last four games. The Buffaloes take on No. 1 seed next week, and that opponent is a formidable one.
In the Rose Bowl, UCLA was ranked 18th.
