They are mercenaries, and we are programmers.

After trailing by 29 points in Stanford’s victory over the Colorado Buffaloes last Friday night, Fisher Anderson had a few things to say.
Let’s just say they weren’t pleasant.

Anderson essentially referred to Deion Sanders and his Colorado teammates as “mercenaries” for the way they handled the transfer portal.

Late Friday night, Anderson left this comment on X.

Fisher wrote on X, “A few thoughts on last night.”.
Good always prevails, despite how hopeless things may appear.
Coach Prime ordered everyone to leave, while Coach (Troy) Taylor encouraged everyone to stay and have faith when he was hired.
They are mercenaries, and we are program builders.
Stanford football has my support; I think you should too.
“.

For his handling of the transfer portal, Sanders received harsh criticism from coaches and former players alike. He essentially fired all of his former Colorado teammates and told the ones who remained that they were free to leave if they weren’t good enough.

Although there were those who felt that the team’s handling of the situation was harsh, the Buffaloes have shown improvement from the previous season and are now just two wins away from bowl eligibility.
Nevertheless, Anderson has been displeased with the coach’s and his players’ methods.
