A former NFL quarterback compares Jordan Love to Patrick Mahomes after a comeback victory of 18-17.

Posted on September 26, 2023

On Sunday, starting quarterback Jordan Love put in a remarkable fourth quarter performance to lead the Green Bay Packers to an 18-17 victory over the New Orleans Saints. The Green Bay offense, which had been blanked for the first three quarters of the game, marched down the field three times to score.

The first scoring drive ended with an Anders Carlson field goal, while the other two were both 80-yard scoring drives during which Love did everything he could to secure the Packers’ victory.

On fourth down, Love faked the shoes off Saints All-Pro linebacker Demario Davis to score the opening touchdown for the Packers.
He then dove into the end zone.

After Love’s impressive touchdown scramble, a two-point conversion throw to second-year wide receiver Samori Toure stopped many in their tracks.

The two-point conversion throw itself may have been what decided the outcome of the match.
In order to tie the game, the Packers would have needed a touchdown and a two-point conversion. Instead, they were able to take the lead later in the game with Love’s touchdown pass to Romeo Doubs thanks to their early success.

Many things went terribly wrong very quickly, as Matt LaFleur will later explain.
The former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky compared Love’s incredible throw to one Patrick Mahomes would make because Love was able to make the most of the situation.

“I don’t give a damn who you are.
It doesn’t matter how long you played.
The play is horrendous.
That’s pretty amazing, really. I have no idea how he even perceives him.
“.

It might be simple to attribute this to having sat behind Aaron Rodgers for three years because Rodgers was renowned for knowing exactly where in a defense he could fit a ball and get away with it.
However, learning such a throw is one thing; actually using it is quite another.
