The tugboat driver from Geraldton was a skilled surfer + father of three.

Jeremy “Jezza” Wann, a devoted father and tugboat driver from Geraldton, Western Australia, died on Thursday surfing in the Telo Islands. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him,” the statement read.

The family also extended their deep gratitude to the three friends, Daniel, Jay, and Josh, who were with Mr. Wann on the trip and ensured that his son Mason returned home safely to Perth.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) confirmed that they are providing consular assistance to the Wann family. “We send our deepest condolences to the family at this difficult time,” a DFAT spokesperson said, adding that the department is offering support in coordinating with local authorities for the repatriation of Mr. Wann’s body to Australia.
