NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that the Los Angeles Rams signed veteran kicker Mason Crosby to their practice squad with plans to elevate him to the active roster soon. This marked a significant change for Crosby, who had spent his entire career with the Green Bay Packers. His tenure with the Packers, spanning from 2007 to 2022, saw him achieve numerous records, including 1,918 points scored, making him the highest scorer in the franchise’s history. Crosby also holds the record for the most extra points in Packers history with 733. His contract expired after the last season with the Packers.
The Rams’ move to bring Crosby into their practice squad indicates a potential shift in their kicking game. With Lucas Havrisik struggling in the previous game, missing a field goal and an extra point, the Rams aim for a change. Havrisik, in his debut season, faced challenges, hitting 7 out of 10 field goals and 10 out of 11 PATs. Crosby’s imminent promotion to the active roster suggests he could fill in for Havrisik.
