Patrick Surtain II, a wide receiver for the Broncos, might be best suited for the Cowboys.
A significant buyer at the trade deadline might be the Dallas Cowboys.
Cornerback Patrick Surtain II of the Denver Broncos is a “possible” trade target for the Cowboys, according to Pro Football Network’s John Fields.
Due to Trevon Diggs’ early-season ACL tear that ended his season, Dallas has a significant hole in their lineup at cornerback.
Fields contends that Surtain, an All-Pro pick and 2022 Pro Bowler, would cover the hole left at the No. One corner space.

Fields writes, “After Diggs’ season-ending injury, one of the Cowboys’ most obvious holes is at cornerback as (Jordan) Schultz mentioned.”.
“One player who could help close that gap in the defensive backfield opposite Stephon Gilmore is Surtain.
Last season, the third-year cornerback recorded 60 tackles (46 solo), 10 pass breakups, two interceptions, and a forced fumble, earning him a spot in the Pro Bowl and first-team All-Pro honors.

Surtain, 23, is currently regarded as one of the league’s best young corners.
Surtain is perhaps the only bright spot for the Broncos, even though they have one of the worst defensive units in the NFL (they give up 33 points per game).
The previous No. Pro Football Focus reports that the 9th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, who posted a 70.5 defensive grade this season, has played well.
Only DaRon Bland (77.9 defensive grade) has a higher defensive grade than Surtain among the Cowboys’ active cornerbacks this season.
Given that the Broncos are 1-5 and most likely in fire sale mode, it’s reasonable to assume that Denver’s roster is tradeable.
Fields does, however, also note that there may be a high asking price in any potential trade involving Surtain.
Fields notes that there’s a reason why Schultz’s sellers brought up the Broncos.
“They appear ready to continue offloading players as they have already traded Randy Gregory and released Frank Clark in the midst of a 1-5 start.
Surtain is expected to fetch a high price and might not be suitable for Denver’s timeline for getting back into the race.
For Dallas, a Surtain trade is at least worth considering because of all those reasons, even though the asking price may be higher than the team is prepared to pay.

Could Surtain Be ‘Untouchable’ in Trade Negotiations?
Among the current Broncos players who have been linked to trade rumors are safety Justin Simmons, linebacker Josey Jewell, and young receivers Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy.
Arguably the best player on the Broncos, Surtain, would command a high price to acquire.
Surtain is “untouchable” in terms of a potential trade, as Mike Fisher of Sports Illustrated observes.
Fisher wraps up, saying, “So why would the Broncos give up on him?
We’ve assumed up until now, frankly, that they would not.”.
To be sure, when it comes to trade rumors involving Surtain, dependable Broncos reporter Benjamin Allbright uses the term “untouchable.”.

Even though it no longer has a lockdown No. The Cowboys, without Diggs at cornerback, have performed admirably.
In terms of forced interceptions and passing yards allowed, Dallas is ranked second.
They do, however, rank 14th in terms of allowed passing touchdowns.
Right now, Jourdan Lewis, a seasoned cornerback, covers nickel duties, with Stephon Gilmore and Bland serving as the starting corners.
To put the Cowboys in the bottom 12 of the league for the entire season, it is noteworthy that in the four games since Diggs’ injury, they have allowed 22 points and 5 points per game.
It would probably take a high pick, perhaps even a first-round selection, for the Broncos to trade Surtain, though Dallas might try to acquire a cornerback at the trade deadline on October 31.
Although this is a lovely ideal situation, it is not a realistic deal given the assets required to acquire Surtain.
