Packers Sign Kenyan Drake and Release James Robinson in Recent RB Moves

By | December 6, 2023

After a challenging start to the post-Aaron Rodgers era, marked by five losses in the first seven games of the 2023 NFL regular season, the Green Bay Packers have leveled their record at 6-6 with a recent victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 13.

Despite the rocky start, the Packers find themselves still in contention for a playoff spot in the NFC. Quarterback Jordan Love has taken charge, steering the team with five games remaining in the regular season.

As the Packers look ahead to the final stretch, they are set to face divisional opponents and teams with little hope of making the playoffs. With motivation to secure a playoff berth, the team has made a significant move by signing veteran running back Kenyan Drake to the practice squad and simultaneously releasing James Robinson, as reported by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Kenyan Drake, who has experienced team changes in recent years, has played only two games this season with the Baltimore Ravens. In these appearances, he managed two receptions for 31 receiving yards and one carry for zero rushing yards. While not reaching the heights of his performances with the Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals, Drake could offer the Packers valuable depth in the running back position as the season progresses.

Looking forward to Week 14, the Packers are scheduled to face the New York Giants on the road, aiming to secure a winning record.
