Packers Re-Sign Running Back James Robinson and Wide Receiver Bo Melton

By | November 29, 2023

In a swift turn of events, running back James Robinson and wide receiver Bo Melton rejoined the Green Bay Packers for practice, indicating their re-signing with the team’s practice squad. This move follows a series of transitions, with Robinson and Melton initially elevated to the 53-man roster for the short-week clash against the Detroit Lions. However, they were subsequently released and subject to waivers on Monday.

While Robinson didn’t see action against the Lions, Melton contributed with several snaps, both on offense and special teams. Melton, a consistent presence on the practice squad throughout the regular season, had a brief stint on the active roster, while Robinson experienced multiple fluctuations in his status with the team this year.

The recent practice squad adjustments also involve the signing of tight end Joel Wilson and the release of cornerback Anthony Johnson. With these transactions, Green Bay restores its full 17-man practice squad, maintaining two open roster spots on the 53-man active roster. Speculation suggests these openings might be utilized to bring safety Darnell Savage and cornerback Eric Stokes back from the injured reserve. Both players are currently practicing and have initiated their 21-day return window.
