The Green Bay Packers could be without All-Pro cornerback Jaire Alexander when they travel to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 10 due to a new shoulder injury. Alexander did not participate in Wednesday’s or Thursday’s practice, and his status for Sunday’s game is up in the air.
Alexander missed all but four games of the 2021 season with a significant right shoulder injury, and it is not clear whether his current shoulder injury is on the same side as his previous one.
If Alexander is unable to play against the Steelers, the Packers would be without two of their top three cornerbacks, as they already traded Rasul Douglas to the Buffalo Bills at the trade deadline. However, the Packers do have rookie Carrington Valentine, who played well in his second career start last Sunday against the Rams.
The Packers also have several other players who are dealing with injuries, including left tackle Yosh Nijman (back), guard Jon Runyan Jr. (neck), inside linebacker Quay Walker (groin), defensive tackle Kenny Clark (shoulder), safety Rudy Ford (calf), left guard Elgton Jenkins (knee), and running back Aaron Jones (hamstring).
The Packers will be hoping that Alexander can recover from his injury in time for the Steelers game, but they will need to be prepared to play without him if necessary.
