Dobbs, who joined the Vikings following the NFL trade deadline, found himself unexpectedly thrust into action during the game against the Falcons. Rookie quarterback Jaren Hall’s head injury forced Dobbs into the game, even though he hadn’t practiced with the starters leading up to the match.
Before taking the field, Dobbs had to quickly learn the team’s cadence and familiarize himself with the receivers he would be throwing to. Head coach Kevin O’Connell had to relay play calls to him through the helmet radio before each snap.
