After a convincing Week 9 win against the Los Angeles Rams, the Green Bay Packers improved their record to 3-5. However, the victory came at a cost as several players left the game with injuries or were added to the injury report post-game.
In better news, head coach Matt LaFleur and Packers beat writers reported the return of Quay Walker and Rudy Ford, who had missed the Rams game due to injuries, returning to practice on Wednesday.
Nonetheless, there was a significant setback for the Packers as star cornerback Jaire Alexander appeared on the injury report with a new ailment. During his media address, LaFleur mentioned that Alexander was “a little banged up” from the game against the Rams and did not practice on Wednesday. While the exact nature and severity of the injury were not disclosed at the time, the injury report later revealed it to be a shoulder injury.
It’s essential to note that Alexander has a history of shoulder injuries, missing most of the 2021 season after suffering a severe shoulder injury in Week Four against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
If Jaire Alexander cannot play, the Packers will be without his services. Rasul Douglas was traded to the Buffalo Bills before the NFL trade deadline, leaving 2023 seventh-round rookie Carrington Valentine as the new starter. In Alexander’s absence, Corey Ballentine or Robert Rochell could step in as the other starter. Ballentine has already played in five games for the Packers this year and appeared in eight games for them last year. Rochell was recently signed off the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad.
The Packers are hoping to manage this new setback and continue their quest for a successful season.
