The Green Bay Packers have their cleanest injury record all season heading into their Week 8 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.
Interestingly, despite the numerous injuries, only four players were listed on the report and all 53 active players were able to participate in practice in some way.
That obviously doesn’t include players David Bakhtiari, Darnell Savage and Eric Stokes, who Green Bay had to place on injured reserve.
However, there is two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jair Alexander.
Alexander appeared on the Packers’ injury report before Green Bay’s home opener against the New Orleans Saints later this week.
He was reported to have suffered a back injury, but no one in the organization has disclosed the circumstances.
A lot of people thought it was just part of the game of football.
After all, the NFL is a physical business where players constantly suffer injuries of varying degrees of severity.
But the injury kept Alexander out of the Saints-Detroit Lions game, and he missed last week’s game against the Denver Broncos while playing against the Las Vegas Raiders.
On Friday, Alexandru himself revealed the cause of his injury.
Jaire Alexander injured his back in a collision with Green Bay Packers practice squad linebacker Alex McGoff.
After Friday’s practice, which Alexander participated in in a limited capacity, he spoke with reporters at his locker.
According to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic:
“Today, Jair Alexander said QB Alex McGough, who was playing against a TE scout team in practice, suffered a back injury following a collision with the practice squad.
He is considered questionable to play against the Vikings after missing the Denver game and said he has a “good chance” to play in Sunday’s game.
Alexander also talked about overcoming injuries to Raiders and former teammate Davante Adams.
“Playing (every second) the Raiders game wasn’t bad. But you know, I challenged Te. It doesn’t matter.
“They needed me because we expected to win this game last week.”
Unfortunately, training injuries can be just as devastating as competition injuries.
Remember that Bakhtiari first tore his ACL on a non-contact drill during practice.
Hopefully Alexander can get back on the field for a Vikings game.
Along with Minnesota wide receiver Justin Jefferson on IR, Jordan Addison has proven to be a legitimate wide receiver worthy of special consideration.
Green Bay Packers Pro Bowl cornerback Jair Alexander recently opened up about a back injury that has kept him out for three games.
The injury occurred during QB Alex McGough’s practice squad practice.
