The Green Bay Packers are riding a three-game winning streak, positioning themselves as contenders in the NFC playoff race. Following victories against the Los Angeles Chargers, Detroit Lions, and Kansas City Chiefs in Week 13, the Packers now hold the seventh playoff seed.

In a strategic move to bolster their defense for the upcoming postseason, the Packers have added veteran Super Bowl Champion David Long to their roster. Jordan Sigler of Wisconsin Sports Heroics first reported this development.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Packers successfully claimed cornerback David Long off waivers after his release by the Carolina Panthers last week. Former Packers team captain Adrian Amos, who mutually parted ways with the New York Jets, cleared waivers.

Long, drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, secured a Super Bowl victory with the Rams in LVI. After a stint with the Las Vegas Raiders this season, he joined the Panthers in November. Long’s NFL career includes 96 total tackles and one interception.

While the Packers needed depth at cornerback, some fans expressed hope for a reunion with Adrian Amos after his release from the Jets.

The addition of David Long has sparked excitement among Packers fans, and the role he will play in the team remains to be seen. As the Packers gear up for the postseason, the acquisition of a Super Bowl Champion adds experience and depth to their defensive lineup.
