Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander had high praise for rookie Carrington Valentine, emphasizing the team’s commitment to maintaining a high standard despite recent changes, including the trade of Rasul Douglas.

Valentine, a seventh-round rookie from Kentucky, showcased his skills by effectively locking down Rams receiver Puka Nacua during the game against the Los Angeles Rams. This impressive performance from Valentine was acknowledged by Alexander, who lauded his top-tier cornerback abilities.

The Packers also had another seventh-round rookie, Anthony Johnson Jr., start at safety in place of Rudy Ford. Johnson Jr. had a solid game, securing his first career interception and preventing any major plays. While he may not become a superstar, finding dependable contributors in the seventh round can greatly benefit the Packers.

Despite concerns about the secondary’s performance after the Rasul Douglas trade, the rookies, including Valentine and Johnson Jr., showed promise, indicating a positive outlook for the Packers’ defense.
