Former Chiefs 2012 Draft Pick Dies at 35

Former NFL wide receiver and Kansas City Chiefs’ 2012 fourth-round draft pick, passed away at the age of 35.

His family announced Wylie’s passing on a social media post, according to ABC 30 in Fresno.

A cause of death was not given.

After being selected in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft, Wylie played in six regular season games with the Chiefs. He caught six passes for 53 yards and contributed on special teams as well.

Wylie was a collegiate star at Fresno State, recognized as a third-team All American in 2011 as a punt returner. He had 98 catches for 1,327 yards in his careeer with the Bulldogs.

According to the statement released by his family, “There are no words to express the sadness that comes from losing a brother, dear friend and an amazing uncle. Devon had so much love and joy to give. Always making people laugh and entertaining us with his football skills, guitar jams, silly jokes and voices, back-flip tricks, fun banter Star Wars obsession chat, Halo nights and not to mention his beautiful smile. We will miss him always.”
