Following Saubert’s stellar career at Drake, the Atlanta Falcons selected him in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Saubert signed with the Dolphins in the offseason, but Miami waived the tight end on September 6 due to injury.

Johnson was born in Dallas and played at Texas A&M, making this trip home . The Pittsburgh Steelers selected him 140th overall in the fourth round of the 2021 draft. Johnson played four games for Pittsburgh in 2021 before the team released him in August 2022.
He then had brief stints with the San Francisco 49ers and Houston Texans during the season 2022 tournament. More recently, Johnson signed with the Bears in the offseason before being waived in August following an injury.

Linebacker and tight end have been mentioned frequently as potential trade targets in recent Cowboys rumors. Saubert is coming off his best NFL season with Denver, recording 15 receptions for 148 yards and one touchdown in 17 games, including six starts, in 2022.
Heading into the 2017 draft, NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein compared Saubert to Jace Amaro, praising his “eye-catching potential.”
