If the Dallas Cowboys were able to pull off the trade suggested by a writer who covers the Green Bay Packers, it would be their biggest trade of the year.
When the Las Vegas Raiders lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers 23-18 in Week 3 action, wide receiver Davante Adams made headlines with his postgame remarks.
Locked on Packers’ Peter Bukowski suggested that the Raiders trade for another wide receiver.
This statement from Adams was the one that caught my attention the most.
With 13 receptions for 172 receiving yards and two touchdowns against the Steelers, Adams said, “I don’t have time to wait around.”.
The Raiders should trade for Adams, a five-time Pro Bowler with Green Bay, and send him to the Cowboys, according to Bukowski and other analysts.
Bukowski wrote on X, the previous name for Twitter, ”

Why the Cowboys Might Be a Good Fit for Davante Adams.
There’s little doubt that Adams would quickly become Dallas’ most powerful weapon.
As good as CeeDee Lamb is, he isn’t as dominant as Adams, who is currently in that position. The 30-year-old receiver is coming off consecutive 1,500-yard seasons in which he scored 11 or more touchdowns and led the league in receiving touchdowns in two of the previous three seasons.
The Cowboys have developed a reputation for being able to attract big-name players like Adams to Dallas.
They have successfully completed three trades for high-profile players so far this year alone, including former defensive player of the year Stephon Gilmore at cornerback, veteran receiver Brandin Cooks, and former No. Trey Lance, a quarterback, was selected in the third round.
This one would win in a number of different ways, though.
Aside from his output and his potential ranking as the No. He has the highest contract of any NFL receiver, number 1. Adams signed a five-year, $140 million contract after being traded to the Raiders in the offseason of the previous year.
Dead Money Cap Hit for Davante Adams Isn’t That Bad.
Adams’ salary for the 2023 season is just $6 million, but his cap hit is $14.7 million.
In other words, the Cowboys would be responsible for his base salary as well as other incentives for this season, including a $510,000 per-game roster bonus and a potential $250,000 Pro Bowl bid incentive.
Additionally, despite Adams’ significant cap hit in the coming years, the idea of trading him is actually plausible.
In each of the following four years, the Raiders’ dead money cap hit would be just $7.9 million.
However, considering that they already have a Pro Bowl receiver in Lamb and two reliable starters in Cooks and Michael Gallup, would the Cowboys really want to make a move for Adams?
The next question is whether team owner Jerry Jones will lose patience with his top two receivers.
Cooks’ performance as the starting receiver for the Cowboys has been disappointing thus far.
In his first two games, he played 99 offensive snaps, or 71% of the total, but only managed four receptions for 39 receiving yards.
The receiver Gallup, meanwhile, doesn’t seem to be the same as he was prior to his torn ACL at the end of the 2021 season.
While he recently played well against the Arizona Cardinals, recording six receptions for 92 receiving yards, he had just two receptions for 13 receiving yards in the first two games of the season.
For the season, Gallup’s receiving yards, yards after catch, and receptions are all literally outside the top 100.
The Cowboys’ offense ranks fifth in terms of points scored, but their passing offense has been subpar, coming in 18th in terms of yards, touchdowns, and net yards per attempt.
Who’s to say Jones wouldn’t consider trading for Adams if the passing game kept getting worse and the team kept losing, especially given that the Raiders are likely to have another losing season and might be open to trading their star receiver to an NFC team.
However, between now and the trade deadline on October 31 things could change and make the trade viable.
