Could the Dallas Cowboys Boost Their Offense with Kenny Golladay?”

By | November 5, 2023

Despite the Dallas Cowboys’ silence at the NFL trade deadline, there’s still room for improvement, especially in the wide receiver department. While the Cowboys maintained their position, other teams made moves to enhance their rosters. However, there’s hope on the horizon in the form of free agent wide receiver Kenny Golladay, formerly of the New York Giants.

Although the Cowboys insisted they didn’t need trade deadline moves, it’s evident that they have room for improvement. Kenny Golladay, who was once considered one of the league’s top pass-catchers around 2019, is now available as a free agent.

The Cowboys could take a calculated risk by signing Golladay. While there’s no guarantee he will return to his peak form, the team would likely secure his services at the veteran minimum salary. At 30 years old, Golladay is a player who has twice surpassed the 1,000-yard mark in receiving.

The Cowboys’ secondary receiving options, Brandin Cooks and Michael Gallup, haven’t provided consistent support alongside CeeDee Lamb. Signing Golladay wouldn’t necessarily guarantee consistency, but it would present an opportunity for him to reignite his career and significantly bolster the Dallas offense.

Golladay’s journey has been a rollercoaster. He initially showed immense promise with the Detroit Lions, particularly during his standout 2019 season when he recorded 1,190 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. However, injuries derailed his career, and after signing with the New York Giants on a lucrative contract, he struggled to make an impact and was eventually released.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has downplayed the significance of the trade deadline for the 2023 season, emphasizing that the team had already made key moves before the season started. While the Cowboys opted for no trade during the deadline, the potential addition of Golladay could inject new life into their offensive capabilities.
