The Indianapolis Colts announced the signing of defensive end Derek Rivers to the practice squad on December 7, 2023. Rivers, 25, has played in 24 career games (one start) for the Houston Texans, Los Angeles Rams, and New England Patriots. He has 16 tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks. In 2023, he has spent time on the Texans’ active roster and practice squad but has not seen any game action.
The Colts also announced several other roster moves:
- Ethan Fernea was signed to the practice squad, and K.J. Hamler was placed on the practice squad injured list.
- D.J. Montgomery was elevated to the active roster from the practice squad for Week 12.
- Brandon Wilson was signed to the practice squad.
- Ronnie Harrison was signed to the 53-man roster from the practice squad.
- Shaquille Leonard was waived.
- Chris Lammons was elevated to the active roster from the practice squad for Week 9.
- Ike Boettger was signed to the practice squad.
- Jack Anderson was signed to the 53-man roster from the practice squad, and Ike Boettger was released.
- Tyreque Jones was signed to the practice squad, and Ross Blacklock was released from the practice squad.
- McTelvin Agim and Chris Lammons were elevated to the active roster from the practice squad for Week 11.
- Ross Blacklock was signed to the practice squad, and Henry Black was released from the practice squad.
