After a dreadful defeat to the Green Bay Packers, a star player for the Chicago Bears makes an absurd confession.
The Chicago Bears’ 2023 season did not get off to the best start they had hoped for.
Fans of the Chicago Bears were ecstatic when the Green Bay Packers finally traded for Aaron Rodgers.
They were unaware that Jordan Love would step in and carry on the Bears’ longstanding tradition of defeat.
The excitement of playing the Packers at home in the season opener was expressed by many Bears players. However, following a 38-20 thrashing, one Bears player made a somewhat unexpected admission.
For the first time in fifteen years, the Bears players felt confident facing the Packers without Aaron Rodgers. Jaquan Brisker acknowledged that they might have had an unrealistic view of themselves.
As Brisker told NBC Sports Chicago and Bear Report, “I feel like we needed this.”.
“I think we might have been too high, and we just needed to get slapped in the face once or twice.
Particularly early in the first game, we needed this.
We must be more disciplined given the type of team we are, the players we have, and the setup we created.
“This was necessary.
We seemed to be riding too high, in my opinion.
“.
On Sunday, the Packers embarrassed the Bears’ defense.
Love’s postgame whispers of defeat after throwing for nearly 250 yards and three touchdowns turned the preseason chest-thumping into glumness.
I doubt many fans thought the team was “riding too high” before Week One.
Maybe after Rodgers was traded, the team thought they would win easily.
They didn’t anticipate a brand-new Packers squad carrying on the tradition of humiliating the Bears.
The next time the Packers and Bears face off will be in the regular season’s championship game on January 7, 2024.
The Bears defense’s readiness at that point will be tested.
