BREAKING NEWS; Tadej Pogačar in Doping Scandal Allegations of Performance-Enhancing Drug Use Threaten…

By | October 28, 2024

Allegations of doping have resurfaced around Tadej Pogačar, one of cycling’s most dominant riders, following his extraordinary performances, including his recent Giro-Tour double in 2024. The controversy escalated after media reports spotlighted the use of carbon monoxide rebreathing equipment in altitude training by some teams, including Pogačar’s UAE Emirates. While this equipment is allowed by the World Anti-Doping Agency, concerns were raised about its potential performance-enhancing effects, although teams maintain it’s only used for monitoring training metrics.

Pogačar, who has never failed a doping test, addressed these suspicions, affirming that risking one’s health with performance-enhancing drugs is “stupid.” He pointed out that past scandals in cycling have created a climate of skepticism, but insisted that his achievements are the result of dedication and hard work, not doping. Notably, figures like former champion Bernard Hinault defended him, arguing that such accusations lack evidence and stem from bias against non-French riders.
