Due to a shoulder injury, Anthony Richardson was placed on injured reserve this week; as a result, the quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts will be out for a minimum of four weeks.
It’s also possible that he won’t return to the field this year.
The NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport claims that Richardson might require shoulder surgery that would end the season.
After consulting with multiple physicians, Richardson and the Colts have determined that surgery to replace his injured AC joint is the rookie’s best course of action.
Richardson’s ligaments were in better condition than anticipated, and sources told Rapoport that his labrum is not torn.
Even so, it doesn’t seem likely that he’ll be prepared to play in a month.
When Richardson was tackled during a planned run play in the first half of the Colts’ 23-16 victory over the Tennessee Titans, he hit his right shoulder hard.
At quarterback for Indianapolis going forward, Gardner Minshew assumed the starting position.
This season Richardson has sustained multiple injuries, this one being just one of them.
Although the former Florida star has displayed glimpses of great playmaking ability, he still needs to work on self-defense.
Entering their Week 6 meeting with the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Colts are 3-2.
